According to industry sources, the rapid spread of the Novel Coronavirus outbreak has reduced operational capacity at factories in Vietnam's northern industrial provinces, which are home to suppliers of Apple, Samsung, and other global technology companies.
Reuters reports that after successfully containing the outbreak for most of last year, Vietnam is now fighting a more rapidly spreading outbreak. Since late April, outbreaks have been reported in 30 of Vietnam's 63 provinces and cities, and more than 3,000 people have been infected. Hanoi, the capital, and Ho Chi Minh City, the southern commercial center, have closed restaurants and banned public gatherings.
Four corporate sources said their businesses have been affected as some areas have gone into lockdown, raising concerns about supply chain disruptions.
