Chinese-owned chipmaker Nexperia to invest $200mn in Germany for production expansion

Asia Tech Wire (June 27) -- Chinese-owned Dutch chipmaker Nexperia will invest $200 million in Germany for production expansion.

Nexperia announced Thursday that it will invest $200 million to develop and produce next-generation semiconductors including silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) in Hamburg, as well as increase wafer capacity for diodes and transistors.

The company plans to establish SiC and GaN chip production lines at the facility within the next two year.

Nexperia's parent company is Chinese firm Wingtech Technology Co Ltd (600745.SS), which supplies optical modules to Apple
