Asia Tech Wire (Aug 15) -- As demand in the TV market is sluggish, there were rumors on Wednesday night that China's three major panel makers will stop production for two weeks around the country's National Day holiday season.
In this regard, TCL CSOT, a subsidiary of TCL Technology, responded that it has not yet issued a formal notice, while BOE and HKC have not yet made a direct response.
An industry source said China's three major panel makers, including BOE, TCL CSOT and HKC, did assess the possibility of arranging vacations for LCD TV panel-related production lines before and after this year's National Day holiday, which falls between October 1 and 7.
And another researcher said that major customers have received relevant verbal notifications from the three major panel makers.
In July this year, due to sluggish demand in the TV market, the price of LCD TV panels at the mainstream sizes began to fall, which is due to maintain the downward trend in August, with panels of all sizes falling by $1 to $2 respectively.
