According to media reports, Chinese battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL) is providing samples of battery precursors for Apple’s car project.
Sources said CATL is providing the samples of the lithium nickel-cobalt-manganese/nickel-cobalt-aluminum (NCM/NCA) ternary precursors for Apple. And they are being tested.
Korean media recently cited sources familiar with the matter as saying that LG Magna e-Powertrain, a joint venture of South Korea’s LG Electronics Inc. and Canadian auto supplier Magna International (MGA), is close to signing an agreement with Apple to produce its early electric car models.
