China to expand its digital currency program to the business sector
2021-03-18 22:55:14

Two major Chinese state banks have started setting up digital currency accounts for businesses in Beijing and Suzhou, according to TechNode.

For months, Chinese banks had been using a red-packet campaign similar to the lottery to draw individuals to set up personal digital currency accounts. Moving to business accounts is a step toward widespread retail use of the new currency.

According to TechNode, the banks had already started granting applications to businesses, but the accounts were not yet operational.
