CATL and Argentina's YPF in talks to become strategic lithium partner

Asian Tech Press (Nov 26) -- Argentina's state-controlled energy company YPF met with Chen Junwei, representative of Chinese lithium-ion battery manufacturer CATL, to discuss becoming a strategic lithium-resource partner.

The meeting lasted one and a half hours. During the meeting, the two companies and Argentine Mining Minister Alberto Hensel agreed to continue technical meetings so that YPF Lithium, a subsidiary of YPF, can showcase the areas and resource potential to be developed.

CATL is a battery system provider specializing in the R&D, production and sales of new energy vehicle power battery systems and energy storage systems. The company is a supplier to Tesla, NIO, XPeng Motors and Li Auto.
