Asia Tech Wire (Sep 3) -- The first chamber of Brazil's Supreme Court decided on Monday to uphold its previous decision to block Elon Musk-owned social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

The court said that any company or individual that attempts to use technical means to continue using the services of the X platform will face a fine of 50,000 reais ($8,887).

On Friday, the Supreme Court ruled to suspend the services of X in the country because the platform had not appointed a legal representative in Brazil.

Alexandre de Moraes, a justice of the Brazilian top court, also demanded that X pay an outstanding fine of up to 18.3 million reais ($3.3 million).

The fine is due to the fact that X did not comply with the court's order to delete accounts that were allegedly violating laws, spreading false information, etc.
