Asian Tech Press (Dec 10) -- According to media reports, BOE will supply OLED panels to Apple iPhones in 2022, supplying about three times as much as in 2021, with a share of about 20% in the entire iPhone OLED panel supply chain.

Founded in April 1993, BOE produces OLED screens for Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi and Vivo, and liquid crystal displays (LCDs) for Apple's iPads and MacBooks. But now, the company has its sights firmly set on the expanding OLED panel market.

Last year, BOE made its first entry into Apple's panel supply chain by supplying OLED panels to the iPhone 12. However, the company's panels were only used for Apple's relatively inexpensive and refurbished models.

In April, media reports said that 78 percent of the OLED panels used in the iPhone were purchased from Samsung Display. However, this year, this ratio will decline to 65% because Apple will expand the use of OLED panels from LG Display and BOE this year.

According to the latest reports, BOE expects to ship 15 million OLED panels to Apple's iPhone this year, with a share of about 10 percent. Next year, that number will rise to about 45 million.

Research institutions had expected that BOE will supply 18 million OLED panels to Apple iPhone this year and 50 million next year.
