Asian Tech Press (Jan 24) -- This year, Apple supplier Foxconn will enter the metaverse and plan to incorporate metaverse elements into its product designs, such as wearables, clouds, data centers, semiconductors, and miniature LED displays. Foxconn Chairman Young Liu told Taiwan media last week.

Earlier this month, Foxconn's computer hardware subsidiary Ennoconn received a $39.8 million investment from Google. The two companies plan to collaborate on additional meta-universe projects in Taiwan.

Foxconn's metaverse initiative was first proposed in 2021, with Terry Gou appearing as an avatar in an online virtual event that showcased the company's ambitions for electric cars and metaverse.

Terry Gou, CEO of Foxconn's parent company Hon Hai Precision Industry, delivered a New Year's message on Jan. 23. He said, "2022 is a year of turmoil but full of opportunities. The epidemic has brought changes to the world, and in this change, it is necessary to grasp the timing and build up strength to meet the new situation after the epidemic in the future. Opportunity is always reserved for those who are ready."
