Asian Tech Press (Jan 11) -- Last September, South Korea passed a law prohibiting app store operators from requiring developers to use their own in-app purchase systems. According to media reports, Apple will allow App Store developers to offer alternative payment systems in South Korea.

According to Apple's compliance plan submitted to the Korea Communications Commission, the company will still charge a fee for purchases made through the alternative payment system. The plan does not provide when the policy will take effect or reveal how much the commission will be reduced. Apple said it looks forward to working with the KCC and the developer community to develop a solution that will benefit Korean users.
