Asian Tech Press (Sep 13) -- Tech giant Amazon.com Inc (AMZN: NASDAQ) is preparing to launch Project Kuiper internet satellites in Europe to compete with Elon Musk's Starlink, and has hired a group of lawyers and lobbyists for the purpose, the Telegraph reported Sunday.

Amazon, founded by billionaire Jeff Bezos, has hired legal and regulatory executives from satellite companies, UK-based OneWeb, France-based Eutelsat S.A. and London-based Inmarsat, to prepare for the launch of its Kuiper satellite Internet services in the U.K.

Kuiper is competing with SpaceX's satellite internet network Starlink and British satellite company OneWeb to provide broadband services to rural and remote areas by launching a large number of small satellites.
