Asian Tech Press (Aug 24) -- Alibaba Cloud said it was a telemarketing employee who violated the company's discipline to disclose privately the user information to the distributor employees.
Previously, some media reported that Alibaba Cloud leaked a user's registration information without the user's consent.
Alibaba Cloud responded through China's Twitter-like platform Weibo on Monday, saying, "According to self-investigation, the complaint should be attributed to the fact that an Alibaba Cloud telemarketing employee violated the company's discipline, using the convenience of work to obtain customer contact information privately, and revealed to the distributor staff, which triggered a customer complaint."
However, Alibaba Cloud did not disclose the number of leaked user registration information by the employee.
An reporter learned from authoritative sources in Zhejiang province on Monday that the province's Internet Information Office, the Administration of Market Regulation and other regulators intervened in the matter to carry out supervision of rectification work.
