Asia Tech Wire (Sep 6) -- Adani Group plans to partner with Israel's Tower Semiconductor to build a $10 billion chip plant in India.

Devendra Fadnavis, deputy chief minister of India's Maharashtra state, made the announcement on Thursday.

The facility will sit on the outskirts of Mumbai, with an expected capacity of 40,000 wafers in the first phase and 80,000 wafers in the second phase.

Although this investment plan by Adani and Tower Semiconductor has already been approved in Maharashtra, it is currently under scrutiny by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and the IT Ministry, The Economic Times reported.
