Asia Tech Wire (Oct 11) -- AMD on Thursday unveiled a new AI chip that will compete with Nvidia's Blackwell.

The chip, called Instinct MI325X, will begin production by the end of 2024.

Earlier, Nvidia said its Blackwell chip will begin shipping in large quantities early next year.

Speaking at Thursday's event, AMD CEO Lisa Su said, "AI demand has actually continued to take off and actually exceed expectations. It’s clear that the rate of investment is continuing to grow everywhere."

The company did not reveal pricing for the Instinct MI325X, which is typically sold as part of a complete server.
