Asia Tech Wire (Sep 24) -- U.S. artificial intelligence startup Anthropic is considering raising funds at a $40 billion valuation, according to The Information.

Monday's report said that Anthropic has already begun talks with investors about a new round of funding.

According to an existing investor who spoke with Anthropic executives, the deal could value it at $30 billion to $40 billion, roughly double the valuation it had at the start of the year when a funding round closed.

Anthropic, which generates revenue by selling access to its chatbot Claude, is seen as OpenAI's biggest startup competitor.
