Asia Tech Wire (Sep 26) -- Alibaba Group and JD.com Inc. have agreed to cooperate on logistics and payments, according to Chinese media outlet LatePost.
Alibaba's e-commerce platforms Taobao and Tmall will soon have an official access to JD Logistics, a logistics service owned by JD.com, according to a report on Thursday.
The feature is due to go live in mid-October, after which Taobao and Tmall merchants will have an additional JD Logistics option when choosing how to ship their goods in the system.
Meanwhile, JD.com will also have access to Cainiao Express and Cainiao Station, Alibaba's logistics arm Cainiao's own courier brand and parcel-collection site, respectively.
LatePost also learned that JD.com will also officially access Alipay, Alibaba's payment service, with the feature expected to launch on the eve of China's Singles' Day shopping festival in November.
Currently, the default payment methods for Chinese consumers placing orders on JD.com include JD Pay, UnionPay and WeChat Pay.
According to LatePost, the two sides have agreed on both logistics and payment cooperation on Thursday.
