Zeng Yuqun of CATL: China has become the world's largest energy storage market, with the most advanced industrial chain
On September 17th, the 2025 World Energy Storage Conference was held in Ningde. At the opening ceremony, Zeng Yuqun, Chairman of CATL, noted that over the past five years, guided by the "dual carbon" strategic goals, China has introduced numerous energy storage policies. These policies, ranging from forward-looking planning and guidance to phased, targeted implementation and coordinated central and local government efforts, have propelled the Chinese energy storage industry from small-scale scientific research and demonstration to large-scale industrialization. China has become the world's largest energy storage market. China currently possesses the world's most comprehensive and largest energy storage technology and the most advanced energy storage industry chain; its energy storage battery and system shipments account for over 90% and 70% of the global market, respectively. Document No. 136, issued earlier this year, marked a new phase in the global marketization of China's energy storage industry.
