It is understood that Nvidia's Thor chip, which was originally planned for mass production in mid-2024, has now been significantly delayed, "is expected to be on board in the middle of next year, and is still the entry-level version."
This is affecting some Chinese car companies' decisions on new car offerings.
According to multiple sources, Chinese electric car maker Xpeng is considering shelving the Thor chip for its new car next year.
Sources familiar with the matter said that Xpeng is accelerating the implementation of its self-developed intelligent driving chip "Turing".
The chip has already been taped oout, and Xpeng is testing and verifying the stability and performance of the chip, "the full-stack NGP has already run on the chip XP5 (Xpeng's internal code name for the chip)."
In response to the above information, Xpeng said it would not comment.
