U.S. stocks open higher as trade talks boost sentiment

The three major U.S. stock indexes opened sharply higher, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 2.6%, the S&P 500 up nearly 3%, and the Nasdaq up 4%. Apple rose 5.8% as it was reported that it was considering raising the price of its new iPhone in the fall. Tesla rose 6.9% and Nvidia rose 5.1%. Pharmaceutical stocks narrowed their losses at the opening, with Eli Lilly down 0.9% and Novo Nordisk down 2.4%.
