US chip stocks surged, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index up 14%

The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 14%, its biggest intraday gain since 2001. AMD rose more than 15%, Intel rose more than 13%, and Nvidia rose more than 12%.
