U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he was willing to lower tariffs on China to facilitate the sale of TikTok by ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok. Trump's 10% tariff on Chinese imports took effect last month, and he raised the tariff by another 10% at the beginning of this month, which aroused strong dissatisfaction from China. China has repeatedly stated that the unilateral tariffs imposed by the United States violate WTO rules and undermine the multilateral trading system. Not only will it fail to solve its own problems, but it will also cause damage to Sino-US economic and trade cooperation and the normal international trade order. In April last year, the U.S. Congress passed a law requiring ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, to sell the app by January 19 this year on the grounds of so-called national security, otherwise the app will be banned in the United States. ByteDance has previously made it clear that it will not sell TikTok.
