Trina Solar: Reached Exclusive Patent License Agreement for Perovskite Cells with Oxford Photovoltaics
Trina Solar announced that the company recently formally reached an exclusive patent licensing agreement with Oxford Photovoltaics Ltd., a global leader in perovskite/crystalline silicon solar cell technology. Through this cooperation, the company has obtained the exclusive license to develop, manufacture, sell, promise to sell, use and distribute photovoltaic products based on Oxford Photovoltaics perovskite cell technology and perovskite/perovskite stacking technology and perovskite/crystalline silicon stacking cell technology in mainland China, as well as the exclusive right to sublicense to local manufacturers. Oxford Photovoltaics is a spin-off company of the University of Oxford. As a global technology leader in the field of perovskite solar cells, it is the earliest company to focus on the research and development and mass production of perovskite/crystalline silicon two-terminal stacking cells. In 2018, 2019 and 2020, it was the first in the world to create small-area stacking cells with 27.3%, 28% and 29.5% efficiency world records, and was the first to prepare stacking cells on 158.75mm industrial silicon wafers. In 2024, the certified efficiency of its manufactured 1.7 square meters of stacking modules reached 26.9%. At the same time, Oxford Photovoltaics has laid out core patents in the field of perovskites.
