TikTok Canada has filed a judicial review in the Federal Court against the government's order to shut down TikTok's Canadian operations, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
TikTok says the order "would eliminate the jobs and livelihoods of our hundreds of dedicated local employees - who support the community of more than 14 million monthly Canadian users on TikTok."
TikTok says it is in the best interests of Canadians to find a meaningful solution and ensure that a local team continues to exist alongside the TikTok platform.
The Canadian government issued an announcement last week that it had ordered the termination of the Canadian operations of ByteDance's Canadian subsidiary, TikTok Technology Canada, in Canada after a multi-step national security review process.
According to the announcement, the Canadian government has not prevented Canadians from accessing the TikTok app or creating content on the platform.
