The three major operators restarted eSIM services
After two years, the eSIM business of my country's operators has been restarted. Recently, China Unicom and ZTE launched a cloud computer PAD product based on eSIM technology, which indirectly confirmed the rumors that telecom operators will restart the eSIM business. The reporter then learned from relevant personnel of the operator that the operator's eSIM business has indeed been restored, but it is still concentrated in the fields of Internet of Things and smart wearables, and the mobile phone eSIM business will not be involved for the time being. At present, the reporter learned that among the three major operators, China Mobile and China Telecom are upgrading and optimizing related systems, and subsequent services will be gradually opened. China Unicom has the fastest pace and has taken the lead in restoring eSIM services in 25 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions such as Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. The full name of eSIM is Embedded-SIM, that is, embedded SIM. Unlike traditional SIM cards that need to be plugged in and out, eSIM is directly embedded in the terminal, which greatly reduces the space occupied by the card on the device, and can be updated through wireless remote download. Therefore, from the beginning, the eSIM card has been regarded as an ideal identity recognition hardware in the field of multi-terminal connection and Internet of Things.
