The Nasdaq closed up 12%, the second largest single-day gain in history. Tesla, Nvidia, Apple and other technology stocks rebounded sharply
The three major U.S. stock indexes closed up collectively, with the Nasdaq up 12.16%, the largest single-day percentage increase since January 3, 2001, and the second largest record increase; the S&P 500 rose 9.52%, recording the largest single-day percentage increase since October 28, 2008; and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 7.87%. Large technology stocks rose sharply, with Tesla up more than 22%, Nvidia up more than 18%, Apple up more than 15%, Meta up more than 14%, Amazon up more than 11%, Microsoft up more than 10%, and Google up more than 9%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 19%, a record single-day increase, Arm Holdings up more than 24%, Advanced Micro Devices up more than 23%, NXP up more than 21%, Micron Technology and Intel up more than 18%.
