Tesla suspends humanoid robot production, revises design
Information from the Chinese supply chain shows that Tesla is focusing on adjusting the technical details of the humanoid robot Optimus's software and hardware, and began to suspend the purchase of Optimus parts half a month ago. Two suppliers said that Tesla did not explicitly state that it would reduce orders for robot parts, but it would not determine a new mass production plan and restart procurement until the Optimus design was adjusted. The adjustment may take 2 months. Musk recently stated on social media that the performance of the new version of Optimus is significantly improved over Tesla's second-generation Optimus, which will debut in 2023, and has added voice interaction functions supported by Grok. It is understood that as of the end of May this year, Tesla has purchased enough parts to produce 1,200 Optimus this year and produced nearly 1,000 units. Previously, Musk promised to produce 5,000 units this year. Both of the aforementioned people believe that with the interruption of parts procurement, this goal is basically unattainable.
