On July 17, Synopsys, a US semiconductor EDA giant, announced the completion of its acquisition of simulation EDA company Ansys. The transaction was announced on January 16, 2024, with a price of US$35 billion. Synopsys hopes to help developers quickly innovate AI-driven products through mergers and acquisitions of leading companies in chip design, IP cores, and simulation and analysis. On July 14, 2025, China's State Administration for Market Regulation announced its conditional approval of the acquisition. So far, Synopsys' acquisition of Ansys has obtained all required approvals. It is understood that after the acquisition is completed, former Ansys President, CEO and board member Ajei Gopal and former Ansys board member Ravi Vijayaraghavan will join the Synopsys board of directors, effective immediately.
