On December 9, Sharp announced that it had reached a consensus with Japanese telecommunications giant KDDI to strive to fully launch the AI data center transformed from the Sakai factory in 2025. The consultations between four companies, including Datasection, which is engaged in system development and outsourcing, and Supermicro of the United States, will end. The four companies reached a consensus in June this year to coordinate the establishment of an operating company and the purchase of graphics processing units (GPUs) for generative AI learning and inference. Regarding the old site of the Sakai factory, Sharp is also negotiating with SoftBank on the establishment of a data center. SoftBank strives to put it into use in 2026, and the two sides are negotiating.
