SK On signs battery supply agreement with Flatiron Energy for energy storage systems

South Korea's SK On announced on September 4th that it has signed an agreement with US-based Flatiron Energy Development to supply lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries for its energy storage systems (ESS). The contract value was not disclosed. SK On said it will supply up to 7,200 megawatt-hours of ESS batteries between 2026 and 2030. SK On plans to convert some of its electric vehicle battery production lines at its Georgia plant to ESS production lines, and then begin mass production of LFP batteries for ESS, with deliveries expected to begin in the second half of next year.
