Saudi Arabia-controlled game developer Scopely has agreed to spend $3.5 billion to acquire the video game business of Pokémon GO developer Niantic.
The Niantic game development team and games such as Pokémon GO, Monster Hunter Now, and Pikmin Bloom will join Scopely.
Scopely was acquired by Savvy Games Group, owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), in 2023.
Founded in 2010, Niantic was a startup within Google before becoming an independent company in 2015, headquartered in San Francisco.
