Pfizer agrees to pay about $60 million to settle false claims allegations

The U.S. Department of Justice issued a statement on January 24 local time saying that Pfizer Pharmaceuticals agreed to pay $59.7463 million to resolve the following allegations: Before Pfizer acquired the company, Biohaven knowingly paid kickbacks to medical service providers to induce them to prescribe Biohaven's drug Nurtec ODT, resulting in false claims submitted to Medicare and other federal healthcare programs.
