OpenAI to open first office in New Delhi to expand India presence

OpenAI plans to open its first office in India this year, a move aimed at meeting the growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) in this large market. The ChatGPT developer said in a statement on Friday that it has established a legal entity in India and started recruiting a local team for the office, which will be based in New Delhi. India is ChatGPT's second-largest market by number of users. OpenAI said its efforts to expand its business in India will involve working with the government to tailor AI tools for the country, as well as collaborating with local businesses and academic institutions. OpenAI said India is one of the top five developer markets on its platform and has the largest number of ChatGPT student users in the world.
