Musk's Neuralink joins bionic eye research
Musk's brain-computer interface company Neuralink is working with researchers in California and Spain on a clinical trial to study visual prostheses. Neuralink's participation in the trial was revealed in late July on ClinicalTrials, a government website that lists medical research. The study is sponsored by the University of California, Santa Barbara. According to the online description, the goal of the study is to "solve fundamental problems that can develop intelligent bionic eyes." Researchers say the device will use artificial intelligence to help blind people recognize faces, navigate outdoors, read, and more.
