Microsoft issued an official statement on Monday denying that it will stop operating in China.
Earlier, a screenshot of an email showing "Microsoft stops operations in China" was circulated on social media.
The content of the email stated, "Due to changes in the geopolitical and international business environment, Microsoft will adjust its global strategic layout and will officially stop operating in China from April 8, 2025. "
It is understood that this email is from Shanghai Wicresoft Co., Ltd.
An internal employee of Wicresoft revealed to Sina Technology that "the affected business mainly includes the outsourcing department of Office-related business."
The employee also mentioned, "The leaders were notified on the 3rd, there was no work done on the 4th, and today the leaders spoke directly to us."
"Our entire project team has been shut down, about four or five hundred people, and are waiting in line for an interview, with n+1," the person added.
Another report said the change may involve nearly 2,000 people, according to a rough count by people familiar with the matter and internal colleagues.
Public information shows that Wicresoft is the first joint venture company invested by Microsoft in China. It was established in 2002.
The company's enterprise digital service customers involve the world, and its business scope is wide, covering high-tech, Internet, finance, insurance, manufacturing, automobiles, energy, public utilities and other industries.

Microsoft also released an official statement on Monday afternoon, "The information regarding reports that Microsoft will cease operations in China is false."
