Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said at a press conference at the presidential palace on the 25th that the Mexican government is investigating the fall of the debris of the "Starship" rocket launched by the US Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX) and is considering filing a corresponding lawsuit in accordance with international law. Sheinbaum said that the US rocket launch activities on the US-Mexico border affect Mexico's security and environment. The Mexican government will specifically evaluate the impact of the rocket launch on the relevant areas of Mexico and study whether the US behavior violates international law. In May this year, the US Federal Aviation Administration approved SpaceX to significantly increase the launch test of the "Starship" rocket from southern Texas, near the US-Mexico border, and the annual launch number will increase from 5 to 25 times, and claimed that it will not have an adverse impact on the environment. On the evening of the 18th of this month, a "Starship" test rocket exploded severely during a static ignition test. Mexican media reported that part of the rocket debris fell into the coastal area of Tamaulipas State in northeastern Mexico, bringing pollutants that have affected the local ecological environment.
