Meta to pay $25 million to settle Trump's 2021 lawsuit over suspended account

Meta said on Wednesday local time that it has agreed to pay about $25 million to resolve a lawsuit filed by U.S. President Trump over the company's suspension of his account after the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Of the settlement amount, $22 million will go to the Trump Presidential Library Fund and the rest will be used to pay legal fees and other plaintiffs. Facebook's parent company Meta filed a notice of the settlement in federal court in San Francisco.
