The Irish Data Protection Commission announced the results of its investigation and final decision on Meta Ireland on December 17. The agency said that Meta's previous data leak affected about 29 million Facebook accounts worldwide, of which about 3 million accounts were located in the EU/EEA. The leaked information included user names, emails, phone numbers, etc. The Irish Data Protection Commission therefore decided to impose an administrative fine of 251 million euros on Meta.
