On December 23, MediaTek released a new AI mobile phone chip Dimensity 8400. The Dimensity 8 series processors are MediaTek's main products in the mid-range mobile phone market. The Dimensity 8400 CPU architecture adopts the Arm full-core architecture design. Compared with the previous generation Dimensity 8300, the single-core performance is improved by 10%, the power consumption is reduced by 35%, and the GPU peak performance is improved by 24% and the power consumption is reduced by 42%. The chip integrates MediaTek's flagship AI processor NPU 880. Li Yanji, general manager of MediaTek's wireless communication business unit, said that the full-core CPU combined with NPU collaborative computing can provide high-speed generative AI task processing capabilities, support the world's mainstream large language models, small language models, and multi-modal large models, and support AI terminals to provide users with AI translation, rewriting, contextual intelligent replies, call summaries, multimedia content generation and other AI innovative experiences; Dimensity 8400 is also equipped with MediaTek's Dimensity AI intelligent body engine, which reconstructs traditional AI applications into more advanced intelligent body AI applications, which can predict user needs and provide personalized intelligent services.
