OREX SAI, a joint venture between Japan's NTT Docomo and NEC, will build a high-speed communications network in Indonesia, according to Nikkei.
At the same time, the Japanese government will consider supporting the funds needed for communication verification and other parts.
OREX SAI signed a memorandum of cooperation with PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk (SURGE), an Indonesian communications company.
The two companies plan to cooperate in order to enhance the communications environment, and aim to sign a comprehensive agreement within FY2024 (up to March 2025) at the earliest.
SURGE will invest approximately 500 billion yen over the next 10 years to improve the home communications environment, centering on sparsely populated areas in Indonesia, with plans to provide services to up to 40 million additional households.
OREX SAI will assist SURGE in the introduction of "open RAN" technology, which involves the cost-effective construction of antennas and other communications equipment and communications infrastructure.
