Indonesia plans to pitch business opportunities, including data centers, to U.S. billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, said Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, chairman of Indonesia's National Economic Council, according to the Wall Street Journal.
According to Luhut, he previously pitched Musk the idea of building a battery factory in Indonesia, but the latter rejected it citing the country's distance from Tesla's car factories.
The Indonesian official said he would continue to pitch business opportunities in the coming months, and was considering a visit to the U.S. in February next year to meet with Musk to discuss the possibility of building data center for his artificial intelligence company xAI.
Luhut said he last spoke with Musk about two weeks ago, congratulating him for helping Donald Trump win the election and for leading the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
