On Wednesday (August 20th), Google launched a series of new consumer hardware products, including smartphones, watches, and wireless earbuds, showcasing its latest advancements in artificial intelligence. The phones released include the Pixel 10 ($799), Pixel 10 Pro ($999), Pixel 10 Pro XL ($1199), and Pixel 10 Pro Fold ($1799). The Pixel Watch 4 is priced at $349.99 (41mm model) and $399.99 (45mm model); the latest entry-level earbuds, the Pixel Buds 2a, are priced at $129. Pricing for the XL version, which has doubled storage, remains largely unchanged. Google has also more deeply integrated its Gemini AI assistant across its products—a significant boost to its confidence in the system after initially lagging behind OpenAI's ChatGPT. In recent weeks, Google has even used advertisements to veil Apple's slow Siri updates. Although Apple has long outsold Google in smartphone sales, the Pixel 10 series' slogan, "Ask more of your phone," seems to be a protest against Apple, which will launch its next-generation hardware in September.
