General Motors will lay off about half of the remaining employees of its Cruise self-driving cab project, according to CNBC.
In a statement, Cruise said it will lay off 50% of its workforce while thanking its employees for their enthusiasm and contributions, with a focus on moving them into the next chapter through severance pay and career support.
Since acquiring Cruise in 2016, GM has invested about $10 billion.
Last December, GM announced it was adjusting its self-driving strategy by abandoning its robotaxi business.
