The French Competition Authority announced on Monday it has fined Apple 150 million euros for abusing its dominant position in device-targeted advertising.
The authority pointed out that the "App Tracking Transparency" mechanism launched by Apple in April 2021, although in the name of protecting personal data, is implemented in a way that is unfavorable to small application publishers.
In addition to the fine, Apple is required to publish a summary of the penalty decision on its website for seven consecutive days.
The industry association representing the online advertising industry welcomed this, calling the decision a victory for participants in the mobile ecosystem.
