Eli Lilly announced plans to build four new plants in the United States this year, three of which will focus on the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and further strengthen the supply chain, and another plant will focus on future injectable therapies. Eli Lilly expects the new plant to create more than 3,000 highly skilled jobs, including engineers, scientists, operators and laboratory technicians. In addition, the company expects to create nearly 10,000 construction jobs during the development of the plant. Eli Lilly expects the new plant to be put into production within 5 years. From 2020 to 2024, Eli Lilly's total capital commitment in the United States is US$23 billion, and the new plant project will bring this figure to more than US$50 billion.
