Chinese autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV) technology company EHang completed the maiden flight of its unmanned electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, the EH216-S, in Shanghai on Thursday afternoon.
The EH216-S flew along the Huangpu River for about five minutes after takeoff, and the single test flight lasted about seven minutes.
According to public information, EH216-S is the first manned eVTOL in the world to receive a type certificate, production license and standard airworthiness certificate.
The eVTOL has completed more than 56,000 safe test flights around the world, including manned test flights, and its application scenarios include manned transportation, aerial tours, air logistics, and medical emergency response.
