With orders for eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) vehicles pouring in, their commercialization is accelerating. Simultaneously, demand for GWh-level batteries is gradually emerging. Recently, several battery manufacturers, including Zhengli New Energy, Zhongxin Aviation, and Xinjie Energy, have partnered with eVTOL manufacturers to jointly address key challenges in eVTOL power batteries, such as high energy density, safety, and fast charging performance. Experts suggest that facing the more stringent requirements for aviation-grade batteries, solid-state batteries, with their combination of high energy density and high safety, hold great potential for application and may become a key choice for eVTOL manufacturers. However, solid-state batteries still face challenges in technology, supply chain, and cost, and their road to commercialization remains long. Against this backdrop, hybrid vehicles have become a focus for some manufacturers. The industry predicts that hybrid vehicles will maintain their place in the eVTOL market for a considerable period of time.
