Chinese President Xi Jinping plans to host a symposium next week to boost private enterprise sentiment, with Chinese business leaders including Alibaba co-founder Jack Ma in attendance, Reuters reported.

Friday's report said Xi rarely hosts symposiums on private enterprise.

The report wrote that the event "underscores the numerous challenges currently facing China Inc," from escalating tensions in the U.S. under President Donald Trump to sluggish economic growth at home.

Many of the entrepreneurs attending the meeting will be from the tech sector, and Xi is expected to encourage them to expand their business at home and abroad amid the intensifying tech war between the U.S. and China, two sources said.

The symposium could be held on Monday, three sources said.

The sources also said that in addition to Alibaba's Jack Ma, Tencent CEO Pony Ma will attend the meeting.

In addition, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun and Wang Xingxing, founder of robotics startup Unitree Robotics, are also said to be likely to attend.

A Huawei executive is also expected to attend, according to another source.

Alibaba, Tencent, Xiaomi and Huawei are among China's leading tech firms, while Unitree Robotics has made headlines for its "humanoid robot that can dance Yangge".
