Buffett supports Trump's tariff plan? Response: Fake
On the 4th local time, US President Trump reposted a video originally posted on TikTok and then moved to the social media X through the social media "Real Social". The video, in the form of "slide + dubbing commentary", claimed that the famous American investor and "stock god" Warren Buffett supports the Trump administration's tariff plan. In the video, the voice-over playing the Buffett clip said: "Trump caused the stock market to plummet by 20% this month, but he did it on purpose. That's why Warren Buffett just said that Trump is introducing the best economic measures he has seen in more than 50 years." After Trump reposted the video, Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway quickly denied the claim. The company said in a statement: "There are currently reports circulating on social media (including X, Facebook and TikTok) about Warren Buffett's remarks, all of which are false." The US Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC) verified this statement with Buffett on the 4th. Buffett said he wanted to combat false information in an era when false rumors can spread immediately. Buffett told CNBC he would not make any comments on the market, the economy or tariffs between now and Berkshire Hathaway’s annual meeting on May 3.
