Apple's smartphone shipments in China slumped 25% in the fourth quarter of 2024, according to a report.
Market researcher Canalys reported on Thursday that the smartphone market in mainland China shipped 285 million units in the full year of 2024, up 4% year-on-year, rebounding after two consecutive years of decline previously.
Among them, vivo led the market for the whole year with a 17% share, shipping 49.3 million units. Huawei ranked second, with shipments of 46 million units, a year-on-year growth of 37%.
Apple, OPPO, and Honor followed in third, fourth, and fifth place respectively, all with 15% market share, highlighting the fierce competition.
Looking at the Q4 2024 data, benefiting from the release of potential energy from the high-end peak season, stocking up for national replenishment, and year-end promotions, China's smartphone market grew at a rate of 5%, with shipments of 77.4 million units.
But due to increased competitive pressure, Apple's mobile phone shipments fell 25% year-on-year, barely occupying the top spot in market share rankings.
