ASML CFO: Relaxation of AI chip regulations will boost demand
ASML Chief Financial Officer Roger Dassen said on an earnings call on Wednesday that if Washington lifted restrictions on some artificial intelligence processors, it would be "good for chip demand." This week, Nvidia Corp. said it had received assurances from the U.S. government that it would allow exports of some previously banned chips. Nvidia's main rival, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), followed up with a similar statement. ASML produces the world's most advanced chip production machines and would benefit from higher demand if restrictions on its sales were also lifted. Trade disputes and global tensions have weighed on the Dutch company's sales. On Wednesday, ASML withdrew its previous forecast for growth next year and pointed to tariff risks as one of the key uncertainties.
